We have an opportunity for an experienced legal practitioner to work with us as our Manager, Legal Advice Services on a 12 month, fixed-term contract basis (parental leave replacement).
Reporting to the Director of Legal Practice, you’ll manage the legal advice services provided by Consumer Action Law Centre so that services are delivered effectively, efficiently and strategically.
Our lawyers deliver these services through a dedicated telephone advice line for Victorian consumers (“consumer advice line”) and financial counsellors and other community sector workers (“worker advice line”) as well as email. On occasion, lawyers also deliver advice services in outreach settings. An important focus of the role is to improve the reach and accessibility of these services for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.
You’ll also be part of our legal team providing telephone advice to callers, undertaking strategic casework and litigation on behalf of vulnerable disadvantaged consumers, identifying systemic issues and researching the law and reviewing legal documents.
