We are currently experiencing a particularly high demand for our services.
To ensure we can deliver the greatest possible impact for the community, we are temporarily redirecting our resources to priority areas of need.
As a result, our phone service is currently closed and will reopen at 10am on Tuesday, 27 July 2026.
We understand that many people rely on our support and that this may be frustrating. We want to reassure you that this decision allows us to focus our limited resources where they are most urgently needed during this period.
If you require assistance in the meantime, you can contact:
- Consumer Affairs Victoria on 1300 55 81 81 or https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/contact-us
- Your local community legal centre: https://www.fclc.org.au/find_a_community_legal_centre
We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support.
Consumer Action is a free service for Victorians dealing with consumer issues, such as problems with purchases, faulty products, or disputes with businesses, and consumer finance problems like credit, debt, and loans.
We provide legal information over the phone. Due to the very high demand for help, it can sometimes be difficult to get through to us.
We can also offer free legal advice on these issues to Victorians who:
-
- earn less than $65,000 per year, or
- are experiencing particular challenges (such as those listed below).
Please contact us if you have been affected by disaster and need assistance with a consumer law, insurance, finance or debt matter.
We can provide legal advice and assistance to people regarding matters affecting them personally (rather than their business). We will help you even if your annual income is over $65,000. We can also provide information and referrals for small businesses and primary producers who have been affected by disaster.
