The attack on Camp Sovereignty was an attack on all Victorians

Consumer Action stands in solidarity with Camp Sovereignty and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities impacted by the egregious and racist attacks on Camp Sovereignty on 31 August.

Consumer Action Law Centre CEO has condemned the attack:

“We watched in horror as a group of thugs desecrated Camp Sovereignty, a sacred place of memory and hope not only for First Nations Victorians, but for the whole community,” said Consumer Action Law Centre CEO, Stephanie Tonkin.

“We are devastated by the news and images we saw. It was a heartless and cruel act that goes against everything we represent as fair-minded, hopeful Australians who believe in justice.”

“Only truth telling and a commitment to working together for a better future for us all will create a better Victoria and a better Australia,” she said.
