‘Advance long-awaited reforms’ Consumer Action congratulates new Assistant Treasurer
Consumer Action Law Centre CEO Stephanie Tonkin has congratulated Dr Daniel Mulino on his appointment to the positions of Assistant Treasurer and Financial Services Minister in the new Albanese Government, and said she was looking forward to working with him as this is the moment for the new Minister to govern with an ‘intensely consumer-focused’ agenda.
“The election was fought over cost-of-living issues, and I believe there is a historic opportunity for Dr Mulino to advance long-awaited consumer reforms while ensuring businesses treat consumers fairly,” she said.
“Our consumer-centric election platform highlighted the need to quickly roll out the government’s Scam Prevention Framework to stamp out the scourge of scams and to address systemic issues in the insurance industry.
“Dr Mulino also has the opportunity to make lending safer, and to work with colleagues in government and First Nations representative bodies, to make economic prosperity of First Nations communities a priority,” she said.
