COMPLAINTS & FEEDBACK

We welcome feedback and will handle complaints in a fair and open way. Every reasonable effort will be made by Consumer Action (including its National Debt Helpline service) to resolve the complaints it receives to the satisfaction of everyone involved.

The purpose of Consumer Action Law Centre’s worker advice line is to:

  • provide legal information and advice to caseworkers, including financial counsellors, community lawyers and other not-for-profit workers in relation to their clients’ consumer, credit and debt issues;
  • build the capacity and knowledge of community workers to provide assistance to their clients in relation to consumer, credit and debt issues;
  • maintain effective referral pathways for disadvantaged, low income or otherwise vulnerable clients requiring legal assistance; and
  • provide us with information about the systemic issues impacting low income or otherwise vulnerable clients.

We are closed from 23rd December until Thursday 8th January.

If you’re having a tough time at the moment, there are still supports available for you.

  • Trained crisis supporters are at Lifeline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering free and confidential support. Call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or visit lifeline.org.au.

Other services are available as well:

  • If you need local emergency relief, including food, call the Salvation Army on 13 72 58 or visit AskIzzy.org.au for more options.
  • If you are impacted by family violence, call Safe Steps on 1800 015 188.
  • Or if you are homeless or worried about becoming homeless, call the Victorian Statewide Homelessness Line on 1800 825 955.
