VIDEO: Why a social tariff in Victoria would help low-income families pay their energy bills
” We unfortunately hear of people being told by retailers that they may be disconnected…and that’s really concerning for us, because no one should be threatened with the disconnection of an essential service just because they cannot quite a significant amount of their budget every fortnight, towards that bill,” says Eirene Tsolidis-Noyce, Senior Policy Officer, Consumer Action Law Centre.
“We need to look at new measures, we would strongly support the Victorian Government investigating a low-cost social tariff for electricity, for low-income families in Victoria.”
