Funeral expenses only products must be held to a higher standard
Consumer advocates have held long standing concerns over the inadequate regulatory framework for funeral expenses products.
In our joint submission with Financial Rights Legal Centre (Financial Rights), Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS), Financial Counselling Australia and CHOICE, we argue that the case for action is irrefutable and we strongly support the Government’s attempts to remove some of the loopholes that currently exist under the laws relating to funeral expenses only products. However, we have some concerns about the Draft Bill and Draft Regulations as they currently stand.
